Whistle Blower is available both for OSX and OS9. Under OSX, 10.1 is the minimum required and
10.2 or greater is recommended. With OSX versions prior to 10.2, ssl secure web page checks are
disabled.
For classic MacOS, 9.0 or better is required and 9.2 is recommended. OS versions back to 8.6
may work, but are unsupported.
Though Whistle Blower is a carbon app, there are separate versions for OSX and OS9. The
OSX version will not run under carbon on OS9. Please use the version appropriate for your system.
Version 3 is available for running under earlier OS versions
or 68k machines. These builds are unsupported.
Whistle Blower is available as a single license for $90 USD and a functionally limited "Lite" version for
$49. Site and world wide licenses are also available and can be purchased at any time from my
Secure Online Store
The Whistle Blower demo is completely unlimited so you can try out all the features. A generous 45 day timeout period is provided so that
busy system administrators have a chance to work with it. If the demo is timed out before you
have had a chance to fully evaluate the product, please email me for a demo extension.
The program requires no special installation procedures. Just copy
the application to a convenient place on your hard disk and run it.
Whistle Blower keeps its preferences and associated files inside its
own application folder. If you need to move WB to a new machine or backup
your settings, it's as simple as making a copy of the application and the
"Whistle Blower Data" folder.
Whistle Blower 3.1 can read and convert the preferences information from versions
back to 2.0. To do the conversion, simply make a copy of the "Whistle Blower data" folder
from the earlier version and place it into the folder with the new version. When you run
the program the data is loaded and converted. A backup of the preferences folder is
made automatically inside the data folder should you need to downgrade for any reason.
The only exception to the automatic conversion is the status_template.html file. If you
have made changes to this file prior to 3.0, you may need to alter the file manually due to formatting
changes. If you made these changes since 3.0 then no manual editing will be necessary.
