Cat Remediation Products Of Note

Every cat owner spends some time every so often reconsidering the less than perfect clean up products that they are using. I've recently been turned on to 2 things that I will never again live without. First for the litter box is any of those powder applications. They are expensive, $6+ a bottle, but they last a long time. I've used both the brands that the local pet smart carries and I can't tell any difference, they are great! Just a sprinkle on top of the litter after you've cleaned it and there is just no smell! Our litter boxes are in a tiny little closet like room with no ventilation and it used to get pretty ripe in there, but I can now do the litter without a gas mask.

The other product I'd like to give a thumbs up to is a carpet cleaner called "Folex" from http://www.folexcompany.com/ We have elderly cats who like to regularly be sick on the carpet and cleanup was a pain. It's still a pain ;) But less so... I was using these expensive spray foam things that stunk up the whole house with their perfume and we were using so much of them that I was worried they were toxic. And they didn't really clean the carpet, still left a stain that would remain until the next time I took the carpet shampooer to them. The Folex does still require some work, but the results are so much better that it's worth a few extra pieces of paper towels. You spray it on, then you soak it up and the stain comes out into the towels, just amazing... And it works. the carpet is clean when you're done instead of just damp and stinky with perfume. I carry a lot of coffee up to my office her and while I'm pretty careful overall I occasionally carry too much stuff at once and leave little trails of coffee droplets. This ads up over time to look pretty nasty, but again folex to the rescue, a few moments with a paper towel and a $5 bottle of this stuff and the carpet looks great again! And the MSDS sheet requires no goggles, no instructions for inhalation, no gloves required (though I wear them more to protect me from the ick of what I'm cleaning up as opposed to the cleaner in this case) and it doesn't stink at all of perfume or solvents.

I'm writing this after just having finished a bottle of Folex on a huge spot of cat sick that she brought me right behind my work chair... An excuse to head out to Home Depot and stock up.
