Mac OS X 10.2 or higher and iPhoto 2.0 or higher with the iPhoto database stored in the default location.
The program requires no special installation procedures. Just copy
the application to a convenient place on your hard disk and run it.
I would recommend your Applications folder.
When the program runs for the first time it will automatically select your
"Last Import" folder from iPhoto to display of you have one. The thumbnails are loaded
in the background, but you can turn this off in the preferences.
Use any method to select pictures in the first column and move them to the second.
Double click an entry to move it, select any number of photos and drag and drop them to
the second column. Select them via the arrow keys and hit enter to move the selected
photo to the export column.
Select any combination of photos from any number of albums to export. You can select
albums from the album popup, by mousing over the popup and moving your scroll wheel or by
pressing [COMMAND]-k to bring down the keyboard album selector in alphabetical
order. Choose by typing a portion of the name or using the arrow keys and
ENTER to select or ESC to exit.
Use the keyboard shortcuts [COMMAND] 1, 2 or 3 to select "Export Full Size", "Resize and Recompress",
or "Export Thumbnails". The first and last of these just copy the image or the image thumbnail as created
by iPhoto directly to your destination directory without reprocessing it or loosing quality in any way.
The middle selection loads the full size image, resize it to your percentage value and recompresses it to your
settings.
Use the keyboard shortcuts [COMMAND] 4, 5, or 6 to set the jpeg output quality to low, normal or high. You can set
any other jpeg options supported by quick time by using the "Compression Settings" button or using the keyboard
shortcut [COMMAND] E to bring it up.
The thumbnails are not loaded in the background if you select the whole iPhoto library to display as this can take
a LONG time to finish and use a tremendous amount of memory. However, if you select an image it's thumbnail is still
loaded for you to look at.
After doing an export the folder you selected is shown in the finder so that you can quickly grab the files
and move them into your email program or photo editor as you like. You can disabled this in the preferences.
If you drag from the thumbnail display in the middle of the program you will get a picture clipping of
the full sized image for dropping. This is in Pict format though, so it will likely be much larger than the
jpeg file.
